Is it a human custom for flowers and chocolates to mean something?

[ Jaco was cross legged on the floor of his little room, studying the flier and coupons laid out on the ground in front of him. ]

It's very important! You give them to someone you hold in high esteem on a special day.

[ That wasn't really assassins. He wasn't sure what intel to go off of at this point but THIS was definitely different. ]

When's this day? So I should go to these chocolate making courses then?

[ He rubbed his forehead. Who should he give this to? Trunks? Bulma? ... Trunks? How many people did he hold in high esteem? ]

You definitely should! Giving someone you li--respect flowers and chocolates would be quite the feather in your cap!

[Oh she is definitely laughing on the inside. She's horrible.]

But you have to wait until February fourteenth, you can't do it before then.

I don't have a cap! But this is nice!

[ The stressed tone in Jaco's voice seemed to lift. At least he didn't have to worry about it being some sort of threat. ]

I understand. I think I heard something over the network about that date, but I've been busy.

[ He was quiet for a moment. Vegeta's entire existence really bothered the hell out of Jaco but the colony hadn't been destroyed yet so maybe Bulma's actually been right? ]

Huh? Me? [...why do people keep asking that? Is the universe trying to tell her something...

Nah.] Oh, I think I'll just do what I usually do.

The usual for that day? So chocolates?

[ Don't you RESPECT Vegeta, Bulma? Jaco didn't but- well- y'know. ]

Be careful giving them to your husband because some people I have spoken to think that, maybe, flowers and chocolates are a sign of dark intent.

[ Or did she mean 'usually' as in same as every day. ]

[She meant treating herself to a trip to the local day spa, so... yeah, pretty much the same as every day.]

Dark intent? [Well, Vegeta certainly might think so.] Who told you that?

[patroller]

Patroller Trunks. He thinks that maybe, perhaps there is some affiliation with assassins. I was going to investigate! But if it is the opposite, and actually a sign of respect! Well that's different.

[Trunks! What is he thinking, telling Jaco it's to do with assassins? Don't tell her this sweet, polite version of her son is just as much of a trouble-making imp beneath the surface as hers.

...ugh time travel is such a headache.]

Well, I mean... it isn't supposed to have anything to do with assassins. No one I know has ever died from kindness.

[patroller]

The world could use some more kindness!

[ With the tone that was spoken with, one could almost expect him to add a "by force!" to the end of it. Thankfully that wasn't the case. This time. ]

This may be what the colony needs. If I cannot destroy the negative criminals, some positivity can tip the scales.

[ The 14th. Jaco will be sure to mark that date! ]

I respect you Bulma! Even if you are an aggressive human. You are much like Tights.

Thanks, Jaco. You're pretty okay too--and you're absolutely right, this colony could use some cheering up. Be sure to give those gifts to someone that deserves them!
